Naredeen, a woman with a rich tapestry of identities and roles, is adding one more title to her resume, Mother. This Mother’s Day, Naredeen shares her hopes that all working mothers are recognized for the unique skills and perspectives they bring to the table.
Q. Tell us a little about you; What’s your story?
I am a woman with a rich tapestry of identities and roles. I am blessed to be a daughter, a sister, and a wife, and I am currently awaiting the arrival of my first child. These relationships have all played a significant role in shaping who I am today. I was born and raised in Egypt, but 11 years ago, my family and I made the decision to immigrate to America. This move was a pivotal moment in my life, as it allowed me to explore a world of endless opportunities and pursue my passions freely.
Q. With a little one on the way and Mother’s Day this week, what does becoming a mom mean to you?
As a new mom, the meaning of motherhood has become deeply personal for me. It is a journey that has transformed me in ways I never could have imagined. Being a mom is a constant reminder of the immense responsibility of nurturing and guiding a little life. However, what I find most humbling about motherhood is the constant need to work on oneself and strive to be the best version of oneself to lead by example.
Q. What do you hope for in the future for moms with careers?
Looking towards the future, I hope that working mothers are recognized for the unique skills and perspectives they bring to the table. I believe that by creating more inclusive and supportive work environments, we can help working moms thrive in their careers while still being present and engaged caregivers. I am optimistic that as we continue to make progress, more flexible working arrangements will become the norm, enabling moms to pursue their passions while also being present for their families.
Q. Work / Life balance is a strong part of our company culture and is different for everyone. What does this look like for you?
When it comes to achieving a work-life balance, I have learned from my own experience and the example set by my mother. I believe that finding balance requires intentional effort and creating boundaries that allow for quality time with loved ones while pursuing personal interests outside of work. As a working mom, it is important for me to have the flexibility to prioritize both my career and family without feeling like one is constantly taking a backseat to the other.
Q. Of all the firms you could work for, Why One Line?
When I joined One Line, I knew I would meet an excellent group of people, but I was not sure how I would be able to develop a team relationship while working remotely. But right away, our team of One Liners were able to create a sense of community and belonging. Around two years ago, I found myself under an immense amount of work stress. I was working crazy hours, had no life balance, and my passion for interior design was gone. I knew then that it was about time for me to stop and take a step back to reassess. During my time off, I started to redefine my career goals and prioritize what I need in a company culture. This is when I found Karrie and Susan, and what a blessing that was. They embodied everything I imagined my perfect workplace to be.
One thing that particularly stands out to me about One Line is their commitment to creating a diverse and flexible work culture. As someone who values inclusivity and belonging, it is inspiring to see a company that prioritizes these principles. Working in an environment that celebrates differences and promotes equity is essential to me, and One Line design studio's commitment to these values aligns with my personal beliefs.
