Detroit is sparked by “Newfound Glory” and “The revitalized city has plans for lots of new offerings, especially for food and drink.” while Miami is “So Hot Right now” and “is emerging as the U.S.’s capital of cool.” according to Times Magazine!
We asked our Co-Founder, Karrie and Susan a few of their favorite things about living in these awesome cities.
Q. Karrie - What is your favorite place to dine in Detroit?
Tough choice, it depends on my mood! Detroit-style pizza is pretty incredible, and Buddy’s is a must. Other pizza spots have opened up around town - like Supino’s in Eastern Market, and a friend introduced me to Tomatoes Apizza – breaking away from Detroit-style for a Neapolitan inspired treat.
Q. Karrie -What is the coolest thing to do for leisure in Detroit?
Anything on the water! You can’t forget that we are the Great Lake State for a reason, and when in downtown Detroit, your view of the Detroit River has our neighbors to the south, Canada, in site. A little trivia; Detroit is the only location in the continental US, where America is north of Canada.
Q. Karrie - What is something you don’t want to miss when visiting Detroit?
Cranbrook.
Sporting Events, we love our sports.
Live Music.
Eat your way through Hamtramck and downtown.
Belle Isle
Q. Karrie - Q. Why do you love Detroit?
It is home. The people, their spirit, and their pride. I also love a good comeback story, and Detroit is one for this generation with a rich history in entrepreneurship, invention, creativity and design.
Q. Susan - What is your favorite place to dine in Miami?
That is a super hard decision as there are so many great cuisines in Miami. Here are a couple of my top choices: Lung Yai Thai Tapas for the best Thai food in Miami, Café La Trova for food, drinks and live music Il Gabbiano on the water for traditional Italian, Mandolin Aegean Bistro for Greek in the Design District, Michael’s Genuine for lunch in the Design District, Greenstreet Café in Coconut Grove for breakfast, Amara at Paraiso for drinks and apps with an amazing view of the water and Red Rooster in Overtown for a great atmosphere and amazing food!
Q. Susan - What is the coolest thing to do for leisure in Miami?
We belong to a beach club on Miami Beach so we take the kids to the beach every weekend. Love living life where people vacation!
Q. Susan - What is something you don’t want to miss/see when visiting Miami?
Miami Beach, Latin food and culture on 8th street, Design District and Wynwood for the art
Q. Susan - Why do you love Miami?
I love the culture and people we are surrounded by everyday. You walk down the street and you hear Spanish and all sorts of other languages. My young children speak perfect Spanish as we live in Miami. The weather most of the year is great and living on the water! Can’t get any better. We just need to go North in the summers, its super hot in the summer.
