From College to Career: Morgan & Marissa’s Journey from Anderson College to One Line

At first glance, Morgan and Marissa’s paths might seem like a fun coincidence—two interior designers from the same small South Carolina university, now working together at One Line Design Studio in South Florida. But when you look a little closer, their stories show a shared foundation, shaped by similar experiences, steady growth, and a genuine love for design.

Morgan Mascorro, Designer

Marissa Haskell, Designer

A Shared Beginning
Morgan and Marissa first crossed paths at Anderson University, a private Christian college with a tight-knit interior design program. With only a handful of design schools in South Carolina, both were drawn to Anderson’s intimate class sizes and the one-on-one relationships students could build with their professors.

Morgan, who graduated a year ahead of Marissa, was a familiar face around the design studios—especially as the president of ASID and a student ambassador giving tours to prospective students. Marissa remembers seeing Morgan often, whether in the studio, at events, or passing through with visitors. They even lived as neighbors during Morgan’s senior year, further intertwining their college experience.

Discovering the Path to Design
For Morgan, interior design was a dream sparked by a middle school career test—one that just happened to be right. “I didn’t even know what interior design was at the time,” she says. “But once I started researching it, I realized it was the perfect fit.” Marissa’s path started differently. She had her sights set on real estate and house flipping, but her curiosity led her to explore design more deeply. “I realized this was what I wanted to do,” she says. “And eventually, I found myself leaning toward the commercial side of design.”

Though their initial motivations differed, both found a common thread in their education: a focus on storytelling through research, branding, and concept development—something that continues to shape their work today.

College Lessons That Still Resonate
In a program where collaboration was key, both designers learned to lean on their peers and professors to grow. Morgan remembers the challenge of a rigorous curriculum paired with a drive for excellence: “School was really difficult, and I’ve always been pretty hard on myself. I wish I’d given myself more grace and taken the time to enjoy it.” Marissa echoed a similar sentiment: “Design is subjective. Just because one person doesn’t like something, doesn’t mean it’s a bad design. I wish I had known that back then.”

Those experiences laid the groundwork for the designers they are today—grounded in curiosity, committed to growth, and open to collaboration.

Joining One Line
After graduation, both Morgan and Marissa made their way to Florida—Morgan landing at another firm before being recruited to One Line and Marissa making a bold move to Miami shortly after finishing school. She found One Line through social media and was drawn to its woman-led culture and collaborative spirit.

Though they haven’t yet worked on a project together, both have supported each other’s work from the sidelines—offering help when needed, swapping creative ideas, and maintaining the same spirit of teamwork they first developed at Anderson. “There’s always been a working style of collaboration between us,” says Morgan. “That’s been a common thread from college through now.”

Looking Ahead—Together
Today, Morgan and Marissa are part of a dynamic team where community and creativity thrive. Morgan recently celebrated her two-year anniversary, and Marissa marked her one-year. They’ve found a professional home that reflects the same values they cherished in college—and each other.

As Marissa puts it: “Everyone in the office was connected to someone previously, and we’ve now all found our home together at One Line.”

And perhaps the best part? They recently discovered they grew up just 20 minutes apart, with mutual friends they didn’t know they shared. It’s just one more sign that their parallel paths were always destined to intersect—and continue to grow—in the most creative of ways.
