Joining the team, Kendall Temotio as Creative Strategist, a title that encompasses so many things and one we felt allowed her skills to soar and bring her passion to the design table.
More importantly, as a person Kendall shows us how to do it all, switching from work mode, to artist, to mother like a chameleon, always engaged in her surroundings. There is so much more to her than we could share in some words, but we will sure try.
That’s why we are putting a “spotlight” on Kendall so we can all get to know her a little better.
Q. What gets you out of bed in the morning?
My two little girls. I have a sweet 3-year old and a feisty 9-month old, named Alexia and Avery. Our 3-year
old usually runs into our room slamming the door wide open and the first thing out of her mouth is “Mommy, Mommy, get up”. If it’s not her waking me up, it’s the other one, slapping me in the face.
Q. What is your biggest achievement to date?
In no particular order, as an Artist having my work selected for a hotel to be reproduced in a large scale was pretty exciting, something many artists dream of or don’t even realize how to accomplish – but Karrie and Susan exposed me to the potential in the industry. As a professional, truly discovering something that your
passionate about and want to spend your precious time pursuing is really powerful.
Most importantly, being a Mother is a huge achievement I can’t even describe, it fills me with so much joy (and frustration) at the same time but its something I achieve and fail at every single day.
Q. What does a typical day look like for you?
A typical day for me working at home changes from day to day but I do my best to block my time and be
present whether I am working or with my family. I’m woken up by my ‘alarm clock children’ around 7 am. We hustle and get my oldest ready for Pre-school and she is out the door by 8 am. Then I grab a coffee and my breakfast and login to my computer. I work for an hour or two and then throw on my shoes and go to the gym for a 40 min group cross-fit type class. I head back and work until around 4. On a perfect day, I enjoy the late afternoon with my kids and then they are both asleep by 8:30, in time for a glass of wine.
On Tuesday mornings I volunteer at the North Florida School for Special Education working with adult artists in their vocational arts program. Weekends are dedicated to my art and my family.
Q. If you could switch jobs with someone, who would it be?
Honestly no one, my role at One Line provides me the opportunity to have balance and flexibility. As a mother, it’s easy to go on Instagram and see Stay at Home moms “living the dream” and spending all the time with their children. At one point I really wanted that too, but I am proud of my career, where it is taking me and the potential to create something great for our future. It’s rewarding to have time focused on my career and my art, and then wind down with my kids.
Q. What’s your personal motto or mantra?
I am a big believer in “everything happens for a reason”. We don’t always know why in the moment but one day things begin to fit together and make sense. People and circumstances are put in our lives for a reason and sometimes they are only there for a season.
Q. What’s your greatest super-power?
Intuition is such a powerful tool. That ability to listen to yourself and guide you along a path. Trusting your intuition is even better and I feel confident that I use those powers to my advantage.
Q. What’s one or two things, not many people know about you?
I played Division 1 soccer while earning a fine art’s degree in college, which meant time management was essential to surviving and made for a lot of sleepless nights to finish projects followed by full weekends of intense soccer. Needless to say, I have always juggled more than one passion at a time.
